Fresh and crisp, yet not harsh acidity. This is a remarkably juicy, lip-smacking delicious white wine from Austria. Perfect for seafood, shellfish, spinach quiche and collard greens. Wow.

Grüner Veltliner food pairings: pan-fried pickerel, fish tacos, smoked whitefish.

Reviews and Ratings

Martin rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

A fine, fresh bouquet with lemon, citrus and mineral tones on the palate through to a balanced and elegant finish.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautiful bouquet on the nose - citrus - lemon and lime zest, golden apples, minerality. The flavors mirror the nose, mouthwatering acidity and lingering steely citrus finish.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A wonderful Gruner, complexity, long persistence of ripe orchard fruit, saline minerality, well balanced, fantastic acidity, with a mouthwatering punch and uber impact on the palate. Austria's signature varietal shines in this wine. Pale straw and a booming 13% ABV declared. Pair with scallop sashimi, or pan seared jumbo scallops. Easily enjoyable on its own. Well suited for a diversity of dishes likewise. Tasted May 2017. 91 points. Bespoke Tastings
Malcolm Lamont - WSET Adv, CSW rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Very attractive on the nose, and a steal at this price.

Medium (+) intensity aromas with notes of orchard fruit, yellow apple, white pepper, and the ever desirable minerality.

Medium bodied and excellent fruit forward character.

Tasted January 2017
Lise Charest Gagne rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A fresh medium pale golden honey color wine. Aromas of tree fruits and citrus, think gala apples, pomelo and lemon geranium leaves. On the palate is a fresh cleansing light taste of green herbs, white pepper and mild citrus. The acidity is medium yet it is mouthwatering and fresh. This wine reminds me of the scent in the air after a warm sun shower. I enjoyed it with a pan fried sole filet with a lemon, cherry tomato, dill and cilantro sauce.
Tania Thomas - CSW, WSET ADV rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Austrian Grüner, a beautifully aromatic and flavorful white. Also known as “the green Wine of Veltlin”, an area in the Alps that is now part of Valtellina, Italy. Crisp and fresh, it displays mouth-watering acidity. Extra dry, rich and medium in body with aromas and flavours of limes, ripe stone fruit and pronounced minerality. Closes in a long, almond-tinged finish. Drink now or lay down for another 5 years. Fantastic pairing with fish and seafood in creamy sauces. Tasted February 2017. Tania Thomas – www.taniathomas.com.
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Aug 1, 2017. Colour pale yellow hint of green. Light legs. Aromas and flavours, yellow apple, green pear, green bean, chervil and white pepper. Taste, medium dry, light mouthfeel, easy to drink, refreshing. I had it with pork schnitzel , roast potatoes and assorted raw veggies.
Gruner Veltliner is Austria's white wine grape and is made in many styles -- young, green, fresh herbs and citrus or, when oaked, a more down-to-earth hay, honey, mineral and toasty palate. This 2015 is the former -- fresh and crisp to pair with seafood. Great value as well. - Community Wine Reviews
