Juicy with lots of black cherry and raspberry flavour but not heavy or jammy. Wonderfully supple and full-bodied and balanced. Spectacularly well-priced.

Reviews and Ratings

Corinna Horton rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Subtly and light, not what one might expect of a Syrah, but with all the refinement of fruit you associate with this grape; tart raspberry and delicate cherry. A surprisingly delicate embrace.
Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows:

Palate - rich, soft and savoury. A lovely expression of Cool climate Syrah , typical from the Northern Rhone, home of Syrah, with lots of black fruits and a refreshing finish.

Despite its modern label, Queen of Syrah Cool Climate Syrah 2007, I am happy to report, displays very traditional, Rhone-style syrah flavour at a bargain price. Don’t expect a voluptuous, mouth-filling Aussie shiraz, by any means. Do expect a nicely chiselled, leaner rendition, with a firmer acid backbone. Notes of dark plum, licorice and black pepper are set against a silky texture that finishes with a very French tug of astringency. Pretty simple and straightforward, but an impressive entry-level introduction to the northern Rhone ... If you want to be cheeky. Source: Bob Campbell, MW, bobswinereviews.com
