Lovely BC Pinot Noir with a satin texture and medium body. Aromas of black raspberry and cherry, dark spice and smoke. Lots of juicy, mouth-watering acidity for roast turkey, chicken or veal.

Pinot Noir food pairings: herb crusted chicken, roasted lamb, savoury slow cooked game.

Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This is Quails' Gate Estate Winery's flagship red. In short, it is amazing. A ballerina Pinot Noir - beautiful, elegant and well-crafted with pin-point precision. Fragrant with ripe cherry, earthy and spicy aromas on the nose, dry, medium-bodied with ultra-balanced acidity to fruit, smooth with ripe dark cherry, red berry, blueberry, earthy violets and baking spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are fine and well-integrated. So ready to drink now.

Wine grapes were hand-harvested from Pinot Noir vines generally over 20 years old. After two to three weeks of fermentation and maceration, the wine is gently pressed and aged in French oak barrels for 10 months prior to racking and bottling. Enjoy with grilled rack of lamb.

This vintage was awarded Silver, Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Excellence.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Lovely and earthy. Aromas of ripe cherry, earth, leather and cedar smoke. Medium bodied with light tannins, and bright acidity. Versatile and would pair well with cured salamis and aged cheese, or enjoy on its own.
Earthy and seductive 92% Pinot Noir, 8% Gamay with aromas of ripe cherry, earth, leather and cedar smoke. Medium-bodied with light tannins and bright acidity. This vintage was awarded Silver at the 2018 Lieutenant Governor's Awards for Excellence. - Community Wine Reviews
