Reviews and Ratings

Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted May 16th at wine club. Colour medium ruby red. Legs thin suggestions low alcohol. Aromas and flavours of red plum fruit, cherry, raspberry. Taste dry, medium mouthfeel, mouthwatering, ripe but firm tannin. Spice note on the finish. Feteasca Neegra grape, old grape variety of Moldavia. What I call a wacky wine. Easy to drink, would match well with light tomato based dishes and cured and smoked meat.
Good value.
Prahova Valley Special Reserve 2016 is made from the late-ripening, thick-skinned Feteasca Neagra red wine grape. This is a robust grape able to survive extreme weather as deep cold snaps and droughts. Look for ripe red cherry, crushed raspberry, smoky spice and some herbal notes on this robust, dry red from Dealurile Munteniei in Romania. Pair with grilled meats. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
