Natalie's Score: 90/100

From Companhia das Quintas, Portas da Herdade 2019 is a rich, robust and powerful red blend of Syrah, Trincadeira and Touriga Nacional wine grapes, and is great value at $20. Fragrant and floral on the nose, youthful on the palate with ripe dark fruit, dark cherry, anise and pepper spice flavours. Tannins are structured and grippy and the wine would benefit from another year in cellar to mellow and marry. Good now, better in 2023.

Food pairings: slow-braised beef ribs, beef bourguignon, onion tarte.

From Companhia das Quintas, Portas da Herdade 2019 is a rich and full-bodied red wine blend of Syrah, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional wine grapes and great value at $20. Fragrant with ripe dark fruits, cherry, anise and pepper spice with rich dark plum, cherry, liquorice and pepper spice flavours balanced with brilliant acidity. Tannins are structured and firm. A youthful Douro red, good now but better in 2023 as it will continue to evolve in bottle. Drink or hold. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
