Mocha and sweet chocolate on the nose from oak aging. This Italian red wine also features sweet blackberry and blueberry flavours. Smooth and full-bodied. Perfect for barbecued ribs or chicken wings.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

My overall advice, buy by the case because the wine is great and the price is right! This Italian red is called Primitivo (the original Zinfandel). It showcases inviting perfumed aromas including rose petals, cherry, plum, graphite minerality, and a touch of vanilla. The palate is off-dry trending towards medium. Even though the flavours appear sweet - berry jam, vanilla, sweet smoke - don't let it through you off because the acidity is high an luscious. It is full-bodied with medium tannins and a long finish. It definitely reminds of California style Zinfandels but with more complexity. It's a great crowd pleaser and pairs well backyard BBQ ribs. Tasted July 2016 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.
Italian wineries Rocca Delle Macìe and Terre di Sava have entered into partnership to create six wines with local grapes from the Salento region based on the soil and climate, or "terroir" there. This is the 2013 vintage of the Mandus Primitivo di Manduria and represents one of two flagship wines. - Community Wine Reviews
