A huge, blockbuster Californian Zinfandel with aromas of ripe purple and black plums and blueberries. Supple and smooth. Winemaker Peter Franus has been making Zinfandel from fruit grown in the Brandlin Vineyard since 1991, planted on a hillside 1200 feet above the valley floor. The grapes from the 85-year-old vines produce concentrated flavours. Pair with grilled meats a barbecued wings.

Zinfandel food pairings: grilled feta-stuffed lamburgers, tourtière, rich, meaty stews with tomato sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Gorgeous! A blend of 90% Zinfandel and 10% Charbono, Mourvèdre, and Carignane sourced from the Brandlin Vineyard perched up high on Mount Veeder in Napa Valley. With layers of raspberry, blueberry pie, clove, and cedar, this premium Zin is perfumed and simply sensational! Showing a great harmony of refreshing fruit, spice, with such elegance - this is the balance that every Zin producer should strive to achieve. At 15.5% this fine Zin shows its big structure in the most elegant fashion allowing the delicious fruit to shine bright. Highly recommend. Drink 2018-2025+. Tasted February 2018. 94 points. Peter Franus Brandlin Vineyard 2014 is a mostly Zinfandel red wine blend from Mount Veeder, Napa Valley, California. Look for ripe red and blackberry fruit flavours on the palate and a spicy and smoky finish. Pair with BBQ fare. - Community Wine Reviews
