A classically made Cabernet from a producer who is consistently good year after year. Offers enticing aromas of blackberry, cassis and blackcurrant with a judicious use of wood for a smokey finish. Supple and full-bodied. Great price.

Koonunga Hill Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: rare steak, brisket.

Reviews and Ratings

Penfolds Koonunga Hill has established itself as one of Australia's favourite names in premium red wine. Since the first vintage in 1976 of Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet, the collection's reputation has been built upon its quality, value and consistency.
Premium Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from South Australia have been selected to maintain these three key characters. The wine has
excellent structure and length and while it is ready for drinking now, it will gain further complexity with short term cellaring.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
