The 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella is a full-bodied, big Italian red produced by the Famiglia Pasqua. Juicy and textured with layers of dark fruit, dried berry, plum fruit blackberry liqueur and savoury spice flavours on the palate. Good five-year cellaring candidate.

Amarone della Valpolicella food pairings: bucatini with peas, roast beef, pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

A beautiful Amarone, full of mature character yet still fresh and well structured. Lovely cherry aromas waft over warm dry leaves and hints of leather. Generous dark fruit on a smooth, substantial palate that brings out chocolate and cloves on a finish of outstanding length. The tannins are tamed but still very much in play. Everything in balance makes this a robust, opulent wine. Beef is an obvious pairing but it would also be delicious after dinner with strong cheeses, chocolate and nuts. Famiglia Pasqua 2013 is a full-bodied and juicy Amarone Della Valpolicella from the Veneto wine region. Smoky ripe dark cherries, prune, blackberry and sweet dried tobacco leaf aromas on the nose. Lovely, cherry liqueur, ripe dark fruit, smoky sweet cake spice and vanilla flavours on the palate. Luxurious and complex. Pair with hearty meat dishes. This vintage was awarded three of three glasses in the 2018 Gambero Rosso. Tannins are firm. Pair with a bistecca Florentine. - Community Wine Reviews
