Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Painted Rock’s 2014 Chardonnay is a blend of three micro-harvests that were conducted over a seven day period to capture the best characteristics of the grapes during that final week of grape maturation. 80% oak aged, 20% stainless, to achieve a fine balance of aromatic and textural elegance. The nose shows citrus fruit, honeydew melon, ripe pineapple, sweet corn, herbal notes, butter, and lees. The palate is soft and refreshing with crisp yellow apple, tart pineapple leading the long finish. The winemaker has produced another gorgeous wine from their high-potential estate vineyard. Tasted September 2015. 92+ points. Matt Steeves – http://www.quercusvino.ca
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This wine has such a beautiful nose! Most of this chard's intense and inviting aromas resemble nuances of tropical fruit (cantaloupe, guava and ripe banana specifically), citrus notes (pink grapefruit) and a delightful vanilla marshmellow note. Take one sip and you will soon recognize even more pronoucned flavours including: guava, banana, grapefruit, a touch of pine needle (stemmy) and vanilla. Acidity is high and mouthwatering for minutes! This chardonnay is a medium to full bodied white wine and would pair very well with dishes invovling a creamed based sauce, given its long luscious acidity. I particularly enjoy this style of wine with seafood chowder.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The 2014 vintage Chardonnay shows citrus and tropical fruit upfront with a bold 14.1% ABV. This wine shows prominent aromatics of nectarine, grapefruit, guava fruit. A crisp, high acidity mouthwatering white with big minerality and a touch of lees with persistence of guava and lime zest and long finish. Enjoy with roasted pork tenderloin and roasted baby potatoes.
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Pale straw, with an intense nose showing citrus grapefruit, peach, herb and mineral on the nose. Full on the palate, with good depth of fruit, fine oak handling, peach, grapefruit. There are notes to this that would almost lead a blind taster to lean towards a massive Sauv Blanc. Delicious, although not totally showing the typical character of Chardonnay.

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Earthiness and herbal notes leap from the glass. Some notes of grass and dried herbs, citrus, wood, green olive. Bright acidity and medium-bodied. A definite "winter white." Serve with grilled plank salmon or seared tuna.

Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A unique initial bouquet for a Chardonnay with aromas of tomato vines and fresh basil, and an unexpected crisp citrus finish. Serve with goat cheese dishes or white fish.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

From BC's Okanagan Valley, a Chardonnay with a fresh nose of white tree fruit and vanilla. The palate gives pear, apple, lime and tropical passionfruit. Bright acidity, long tangy finish.
Jane LeFresne rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review:

One of the most interesting types of Chardonnay that I have tried to date. Your typical Chardonnay aromas are hard to pull out. Straight of the top you get green, almost tomato vine like aromas. Followed by lemon, green apple and some biscuit.

Flavours of lemon, green apple and the fresh greens come through. The finish is long green apple and lemon. Acidity is medium plus to high.
Our 2014 Chardonnay is a blend of three micro-harvests from our single estate Chardonnay block. Over 7 days we conducted these harvests to capture specific attributes in the fruit. 80% was aged 5 ½ months French oak, ½ new & ½ second fill barrels. The last harvest of 20% was aged in stainless steel and underwent malolactic fermentation. This process enabled us to embrace the beautiful bright acidity while building mouthfeel, complexity and aromatics with the final pick. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our labours.

Tasting Notes:
Bright lemon and citrus fruits combined with pineapple notes on the nose. The palate shows mouth-watering acidity combined with vanilla, more tropical notes and expressive minerality.

Oaking:
80% was aged 5 ½ months French oak, ½ new & ½ second fill barrels. The remaining 20% was aged in stainless steel and underwent malolactic fermentation.
