A tasty and full-bodied red wine with black and dark red fruit aromas and flavours. Monastrell is also known as Mataró or Mourvèdre in other regions, and usually creates rich wines of great depth and concentration. Try it tonight with pepperoni pizza. The vines for this full-bodied red wine are grown at a high altitude of 825 metres above sea level on ungrafted vines which imparts both intensity and balance.

Monastrell food pairings: pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A dark garnet red Monastrell with a fragrant nose of ripe red berries and cassis. The palate has ripe cassis, stewed fruit, dark raisins, slight sweet spice & lavender. Dark spicy fruit finish.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Always a stunner for the price. This exceptional Monastrell features smoky dark berries, crushed flowers, and crushed mineral. Insane value. Very versatile with food. 88 Points. (ottawawinejournal.com)
The vines for this full-bodied red wine are grown at a high altitude of 825 metres above sea level on ungrafted vines which imparts both intensity and balance. Each harvest, the winery selects its best Monastrell grapes and uses only wild yeasts for fermentation and then ages the wine for 6 months in French oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews
