The 2009 vintage is rich and luxurious on the nose and palate with dark red fruit, toasty oak and cigar box. Smoky with dusty, earthy notes and chary black fruit. Racy acidity is balanced with the heft of the wine for rare and grilled meats.

Food pairings: roast leg of lamb, lamb liver and sautéed sweet onions.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

From Navarra, in northern Spain, a single vineyard Tempranillo, Merlot and Cab Sauv blend, matured in oak > 1 yr, then in bottle. Aromas and rich flavours of ripe red berries, mint, herbs, smoke and tobacco. Extra-dry, smooth and mouth-watering. Non-filtered, so could benefit decanting before serving. Enjoy with rack of lamb or prime rib.

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

It's an interesting, complex full-bodied red. Alluring mocha latte, vanilla, chocolate, dried fig aromas reveal a juicy, plummy high-acid, chewy mouthfeel with lasting flavours of dark chocolate and baking spice. Enjoy with Mole. Tasted Jan 17 - @sommsosa | bespoketasting.ca
Ochoa Single Vineyard Reserva (2009) is a red wine blend of 55% Tempranillo with the balance in Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vines are planted in clay and limestone soils at Olite and Traibuenas in the Navarra region of Spain. Lots of ripe red and black berry fruit on this wine. Have now with lamb liver and sautéed onions. - Community Wine Reviews
