A gorgeous northern Italian red made with 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Although high in alcohol, it tastes balanced and elegant. It still has a long life ahead of it, so keep it in the cellar a few more years at least. Aromas of violets, truffle, dark fruit and smoke. Pair with truffle-accented dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Tangy and juicy. A wine made for pairing. Enjoy with tomato-based authentic Italian dishes. Well structured, balanced high acidity, medium tannins, 15.5% ABV. Blackberry, red currant, plum, aged leather. Crowd pleasing and sophisticated. Tasted 2015 vintage Dec 2017. 92 points.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The Nino Negri Sfursat is a very limited production of the best grapes (Chiavennasca also known as Nebbiolo) in Valtellina. They are naturally dried using traditional methods. The grapes undergo and extensive sorting process to eliminate any that are not satisfactory. The dried grapes are crushed and macerated for twelve days followed by a short resting period in stainless steel. Following this, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for twenty -twenty four months. There is lots of spice on the nose along with plum, currants and blackberry. The palate is well balanced and harmonious with plum, anise, a great acidity and a hint of toasty oak and spice on the finish.
