Balanced and pleasant with full-bodied richness, but not heavy. More earthy than fruity, which is very appealing. Terrific for the price. Great with meat dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

Holly Bruns rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

This Cabernet has a full, ripe, red fruit and warm spice aroma; almost sweet on the palate, but it doesn't come off as cloying thanks to some bright acidity. The tannins are very gentle next to the black currant and slightly woodsy flavours that hang around in your mouth for a nice length. Good value.
The grapes were sourced from vineyards in and around the Western Cape. Planted between 1990 and 1998, the vines are grown in decomposed granite on a southerly slope, situated some 50m to 150m above sea level.

The grapes were harvested by hand and machine at 23º to 25º Balling from mid-February until the end of March. The
fruit was crushed and fermented on the skins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 25ºC to 28ºC for two weeks. Upon completion of malolactic fermentation the wine was matured in wood for a period of approximately 12
months.
