A spectacular price at an incredibly great price. The 2016 was superb, even better than the much-touted 2015. It shows in this wine that's an elegant, full-bodied Boredeaux blend of 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The Merlot makes this lovely wine ready to drink now, but the Cabs will give it a long cellar life and structure. Aromas of black fruit, vanilla spice and tanned leather. Perfect for lamb with rosemary.

My favourite of the Mouton portfolio...the Mouton Cadet Reserve Saint-Emilion...Super expressive with cherry, red and black fruit, dark plum, cinnamon, vanilla, and espresso. The palate shows all those flavours with great balance making this a stunning value-priced Saint-Emilion wine to enjoy over the next decade. Tasted June 2019. 92 points. The Mouton Cadet Reserve Saint-Emilion 2016 is a classic Bordeaux style wine polished tannins and lovely structure. Crafted from 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc, this Right Bank wine offers flavors of dark cherry, plum, bay leaf, leather, vanilla, spice and oak. Charming wine. Enjoy! Tasted at Mouton Cadet, Ottawa tasting June 2019.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Gorgeous full bodied, deeply concentrated Merlot-dominant Saint-Emillion Bordeaux blend. Big, chewy tannins, ripe plum , blackberry, hint of licorice, baking spices, wet stone minerality. Paired well with grilled red meats, and would love to try with a beef stir fry. Tasted 2016 vintage in June 2019. 92 points
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Wine is deep ruby in colour, full bodied, dry, medium acidity and medium high tannin and a pronounced intensity nose that is earthy, and features black plum, black cherry and blackberry. Smooth tastes of black cherry and blackfruit. Finish is long and tastes of black fruit. This is a more powerful and intense wine well suited to beef dishes..

Cherie Cole rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Big, bold, bodacious Bordeaux. This blend, dominated by Merlot reveals notes of rich, dark fruit, baking spice and coffee. Full-bodied with grippy tannins, this wine would be a perfect accompaniment with rare beef dishes. Tasted June 2019.
OPUSCRU.COM Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon
This Merlot dominant Bordeaux blend is unique in the Mouton Cadet line up when vibrant crimson color and old cellar aromas take charge. You could swear it sat in old French wood for years, rather than 16 months. Dried cranberry, clove and a dash of sweet spice raise the bar on average fruit-forward reds. Roasted red pepper, cocoa, prune and ripe cherry lavish the mid pallet while well-integrated tannins balance everything out. Dynamic and complex, match this finely structured red with grilled meats or red-sauced cannelloni.
Cora Beaulieu rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

You can serve this one slightly chilled; I think it will bring out the lively berry notes. The nose is restrained with hints of cherry, plum and fresh blackberry fruit. The wine has the right mix of red and dark fruit concentration, rounded out with leather, earthy, toasty oak, mocha, pepper and dried herbs notes. More mild in fruits than strong in tannins. The palate is nicely developed, but a little spicy, with a cheerful blackberry and black currant, finish. Well balanced. After taste could linger longer. Decent yet accessible Bordeaux.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Beautifully balanced. The blend is 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, and just 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of dark fruit and black cherry, with hints of coffee, leather, mocha, and warm spice. Full bodied, with moderate acidity, and extended dark fruit and spicy notes on the palate. Smooth and flavourful. Enjoy with braised beef, or grilled steak.
