Beautiful Chardonnay: the Platonic essence of full-bodied, buttery, hazelnut-rich Chardonnay. In a blind tasting, you'd easily mistake this for a top Burgundian Chardonnay. Pair with roast chicken or turkey.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Get your hot buttered popcorn here! This is a wonderfully bold Chardonnay. Full-bodied and rich with all the signatures of warm climate Chardonnay. Deep lemon colour with thick legs and tears. Intense aromas of peach, pear, toast, buttered popcorn, nutmeg, vanilla. The mouthfeel is creamy with a long butternut finish. This is the Chardonnay lovers Chardonnay. Great acidity will carry this beauty over the next few years and reward the drinker. At $22 I believe this is a bargain for such a grand wine. Pair with roasted Butterball turkey. Yes, Butterball. Butter, protein, salt. Yum! You can thank me later.

Les Kovacs reviewed this wine as follows:

Rich, elegant, 2 of 3 re oak. We both like it a lot. Good with lobster...scallops
The vines for this Chardonnay from Mountadam were planted in 1971 and an elevation of 551 metres above sea level: both the age and height of those vines produce superbly complex grapes and wine. Think of Burgundy's Meursault Chardonnay. Very classic. These vines are some of the oldest chardonnay vines in South Australia. The wine spent 9 months on its lees, which were stirred gently, in 60% new French oak barriques, and it also underwent a full malolactic fermentation for added richness. Mountadam High Eden Estate is Australia's coolest climate Chardonnay vineyard. Finishes with fleshy peach and toasted almond nuances. - Community Wine Reviews
