Natalie's Score: 93/100

A terrific, full-bodied Californian red with 83% sourced from the Monte Rosso Vineyard in the cool climate of Sonoma, with the remainder coming from other vineyards in Sonoma. This is a deeply concentrated blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petite Sirah grapes. The wine was matured in 53% new French oak barrels. Aromas of dark spice, smoke, black fruit and toasty oak. This wine has a long cellar future ahead of it. Decant 1-2 hours and pair with a rare steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: meat lover's pizza, roast chicken, gourmet burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Mount Peak's Sentinel 2014 is a muscular and powerful 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petite Sirah red blend from the Sonoma Valley, Sonoma County, California Most of the wine grapes were sourced from the Monte Rosso Vineyard in Sonoma and the wine is aged in over 50% new French oak barrels. It is 15.7% abv, but well-integrated nevertheless. The wine would benefit from a few more cellaring years. Drink from 2019 and pour with a fully-aged Tomahawk beef steak. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
