Reviews and Ratings

Marco Giovanetti rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

On the nose rich layers of ripe leafy cassis fruit, black plums, red cherries withsubtle nuances of gunpowder, wood, balsamic, red and green pepper, cured meat and dry spices. In the mouth, full body, round and ample with meaty tannis. Flavors remind me of raspberry jelly, dark chocolate and nuances of smoked grilled red peppers. A very spicy and generous finale with a longlasting finish that brings to mind dry thyme. This wine is ready to drink now or could be be kept for the next 7-10 years
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Ninquen - means "Plateau on the Mountain" and Chile's first mountain vineyard. Beautiful deep ruby colour with enticing aromatics of ripe dried red fruit, toasted oak, earthiness, graphite, vanilla. The palate is plush and reminiscent of the aromas. Tannins are young and grippy with medium+ acidity. Time in the cellar will benefit this wine. It will be interesting trying this wine in another 2 or so years. Excellent value at $17!!! Buy a case. Try with Argentinian style salted grilled meats.
Tasted: November 2014
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Nov 16, 2014: Deep ruby, currant, green herb/eucalyptus, toasty oak spice and dusty mineral on the nose. Fullish body, rich fruit, savoury, smoky, mineral notes, well structured, with some rustic tannins on the med-long finish. This is a fantastic value that drinks well above the price and should improve in the cellar over the next two years and drink well into the next decade.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Aromas of black pepper, eucalyptus, green pepper and bacon flow into a long peppery finish with persistent tannins. Drinking nicely now, or lay this one down for another 5 years. Pair with medium cuts of steak or lamb.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Cigar box, red and black plum, smoke, and old leather aromas. The taste matches, with a perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and oak inflections. The mouth feel has a bit of nice oiliness to it, followed by some grippy tannins. An amazing wine for the price,
Philippe Perreault - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep purple color with aromas of tobacco, eucalyptuse, black currant, blackberry and vanilla!

The wine is firm, full-bodied and long on the palate!

Excellent to match with a pepper steak!

Serve it at 15-17 degrees!

Can be aged 5-6 years!
