From Colchagua Valley, Apalta wine region, Montes Wings 2020 is a Carmenère-driven red with a splash of Cabernet Franc (15%) added to the mix. Dry, medium-bodied and juicy, the wine is fragrant with pink florals and juicy on the palate with black cherry, red plum, pepper spice and a kiss of cocoa on the finish. Tannins are fine-grained and firm and if having tonight, decant it one hour prior to pouring it with an equally juicy game roast. Enjoy it through 2035.

Carmenère food pairings: baked marinated olives topped with cheese, roast chicken, grilled pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lovely Carmenere with 15% Cabernet Franc added. Aromas of blackberry and black cherry, along with peppery spice, and a slightly floral hints. Full bodied on the palate with grippy tannins, lots of rounded dark berry flavours and a touch of mocha on the finish. Enjoy with charcoal grilled beef or pork. be sure to decant 45-60 minutes before serving.
