Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Mirto di Sardegna is Sardinia's most famous contributions to the menu of savoury Italian liqueur.. In a similar vein to Strega, Centerbe, and Fernet Branca, or even French Pastis, it makes a great digestive or contemplative sipper. As the name suggests, it's made mainly with Myrtle.
It's just under 30% alcohol, so softer than other liqueurs. It has a pleasant purple and garnet colour.
The Aromatics and flavours revolve around bay, savoury, and other fresh herbs. Licorice and mace too. This is a finer example, so it does have some fresh berry flavour to it.
If you are in Sardinia, this is something you have to try before you leave. If you're lucky enough to find it overseas, go ahead. It is certainly worth the experience.
I've had it served room temperature and chilled. Don't overchill it. Maybe serve it somewhere near 10-12 degrees.
Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

The sweet version of Whiskey.…
Presentation: A label that looks like it came straight from the Magna Carta
Appearance: Deep tawny
Nose: Pronounced nose with notes of eucalyptus and wet wood
Taste: Sweet, full body, low acidity, low tannins, and notes of eucalyptus soap and wet wood
Finish: long sweet eucalyptus finish
Overall impression: An acquired taste, admittedly. If you like Whiskey, this could be the sweet version
Value: 3/5
Mirto Silvio Carta Ricetta Storica is a an ancient Sardinian specialty made from the myrtle berry. This liqueur is dark purple with flavours of bay, sage, dried herbs and plum. Chill before serving. - Community Wine Reviews
