A robust and delicious red with aromas of black liquorice (it's dry), blackberries, black cherry and smoke. Lovely length and weight. Polished, smooth tannins make it easy to drink now though it'll also keep well in the cellar. This wine was mature for six months in French barrels, with most of it resting on its lees. Terrific price. Gassier is the iconic flagship of the Nimes region, and this wine shows why.

Food pairings: roast pork, beef tenderloin grilled game dishes.

Michel Gassier is an interesting winemaker, self-described as a “peasant-researcher”, he derives pleasure working the land and bringing its uniqueness to us through his wines. This one is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault, and Mourvedre. It’s rich with acidity and spice, which is well-balanced with red, ripe cherries and strawberries. Some time spent in oak contributes a pleasant vanilla aftertaste. Drink now or within the next two years.

This wine is a pretty great value every year, but stock up on the 15s. 2015 was a fantastic year for the Rhône and it shows in this wine.
This wine, from Gassier's production area between Nîmes and the western Rhône Delta, is not only a concentrated and rich offering, but it has lots of structure.
Deep ruby, with some darker hues towards the core. Aromas of pot pourri, date, blackberries, cherry, chocolate, allspice, earth, and white pepper.
The flavours are long and pure. It doesn't receive a tremendous oaking - just enough.
Flavours of red amd black berries. Some cocoa and baking spices. Olives, subtle minerality, and some charred wood on the finish.
This wine often has some good tannin amdnacids etc..., but this wine is just a notch above how it typically tastes at this stage. I would even consoder laying it down for 5ish years. Maybe longer.
Kalamata olives and tapas would be a great match for this wine.

Michel Gassier Nostre Païs 2015 is a great value, robust dry and delicious Costières-De-Nîmes, Rhône red wine blend of Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Look for fleshy blackberries, black cherry and anise flavours on the palate. The wine is supply, silky with well-integrated tannins and great balance. Enjoy with a roast of beef.
