Mer Soleil Silver Chardonnay was first produced in 2005 by Charlie Wagner and has kept its rich, full-bodied and unoaked style. Brought up in stainless-steel and cement tanks, this Chard is fresh with blanched almond, bright apple, soft tropical fruit and citrus flavours finishing crisp with clean mineral flavours on the palate. Pair with grilled shrimp.

Chardonnay food pairings: spinach and pepper jack stuffed chicken, lobster with melted butter poached whitefish in white wine sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The big, full, and rich Californian style Chardonnay without all of the oak. Creamy and buttery with tropical fruit, citrus, and hints of apple. Full bodied clocks in at 14% ABV. Without the barrel influence, pretty easy drinking despite the body. Very nice alongside roasted poultry and vegetables.
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Suggestions of stone fruit, floral and tropical fruit were front and centre in the 2017 vintage of this unoaked chardonnay from California’s Santa Lucia Highlands. Displayed nice weight and pleasing acidity. Winemaker Charlie Wagner enriched these fresh, crisp aromas and flavours with bespoke mineral notes created during his hallmark fermentation and aging regime. Enjoy.

Love this unoaked Chardonnay from Monterey County, California. Hasn't changed much since 2005 when first made by Charlie Wagner. Dry with good weight with ripe tropical and orchard fruit on the palate. Aged in stainless steel and cement tanks. Warming at 14.8% abv. Chill and enjoy now with grilled shellfish. - Community Wine Reviews
