The Semillon grapes for this spectacular white wine are sourced from the Mount Pleasant Elizabeth vineyard. There's nothing like Australian Semillon grape-based wines: you must try this one if you haven't sampled their delights previously. Terrific balancing acidity for a wide range of dishes and a long finish to make you return to this bottle again and again. Pair with pork chops.

Semillon food pairings: veal scaloppini, smoked salmon, antipasti, poultry.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Delight in a glass.....Hunter Valley Semillon, Australia's oldest wine region, says it all. So elegant, fresh, clean and crisp with flavors of juicy lemon, honey, melon and apple, and a slight nuttiness, creamy on the palate. Unquestionably wonderful on its own or with any seafood.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Hunter Valley Semillon is one of my great pleasures. This affordable bottling from NSW features golden apple, pear, lemon, citronella, beeswax, fresh cut grass and a hint of stone fruit. There's a lot going on in the bottle. Mouthwatering acidity perfectly paired with anything you pull fresh from the ocean. 89 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Neil Phillips rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Primary aromas of white peach, green melon, star anise, honeysuckle - also melon, lime, hay and a slight mineral note.

On the palate, dry with low acid and medium intensity. Flavours of lemon & lime zest, white nectarine, white peach, melon, green apple.

Creamy on the palate, this wine is drinking now but I think will develop a more complex profile with at least two further years in the bottle.

Tasted November 2016.
Semillon from Australia differs vastly from Semillon from France or California. Australia's Hunter Valley region's terroir brings layers of beeswax, orange blossom honey, soft lanolin on the palate and the wine is mouth-coating with good weight on the mid-palate. This wine is cellar aged prior to being released to allow it to marry, mellow and mature. - Community Wine Reviews
