In 1353, Pietro Alighieri, son of Florentine poet Dante Alighieri, who wrote The Inferno among other great works, purchased the land that’s still at the heart of this winery. The family have tended these vineyards for twenty generations. This amarone is made from a traditional blend of corvina, rondinella, molinara and oseleta grapes. It’s deeply concentrated and as layered and dark as the nine circles of hell. Aromas of liquid cherry, dark spice and lots of smoky notes, with a finish that lasts for an eternity. Perfect for those feeling the heat. Enjoy with flame-grilled meats.

Food pairings: leg of lamb, pasta with tomato sauce, venison, beef daube, polenta dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

Masi Riserva 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella is a beautifully balanced, fragrant and full-bodied Amarone from a great vintage year. Dry, juicy and elegant, the blend for 2015 is 70% Corvina, 5% Molinara, 15% Rondinella and 10% Oseleta. Look for ripe dark plum, black cherry, truffles, well-integrated oak spice and smoky vanilla flavours finishing long on the palate. Outstanding Amarone. - Community Wine Reviews.
