Marqués de Murrieta Finca Ygay Reserva 2016 is a full-bodied Tempranillo-driven red wine blend with some Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha added in for good measure. The bodega reduced its grapes yields to come up with a more concentrated wine that has been aged in American oak barrels for 19 months. This Reserva is elegant and savoury with dried cherry, fig, dried pink rose petals, cedar spice and smoky flavours on the palate. Drink or hold.

Reserva Rioja Finca Ygay food pairings: black bean soup, short ribs, sharp cheddar, pork.

Reviews and Ratings

Simon Chen rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

I'm usually not a big fan of Rioja, but this is one of the best ones I've had at the $30 range. The wine is aromatic and full of pure black fruits. Complex palate, juicy, and excellent balance of acid and tannin. Let it open in the glass for 30min. It is drinking perfectly alone by itself!
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautiful nd robust. This Rioja Reserva has rich aromas of fig, blackberry and currant, along with dried herbs, cedar, and smoke. Full bodied on the palate, with robust, firm tannins and bright acidity. This wine would benefit with at least an hour in the decanter. Fruit notes on the palate are rich and ripe, tending to almost a hint of dried berry notes. Enjoy with slow braised beef.
Marqués de Murrieta Finca Ygay Reserva 2016 is a robust 87% Tempranillo red wine blend with the balance in Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha. Grape yields for this vintage were kept low making this wine rich and concentrated with dried cherry, fig, dried pink rose petals, cedar spice and smoky flavours on the palate. The wine matured in a mix of oak barrels for 19 months. - Community Wine Reviews
