A rustic, robust Italian red wine with notes of dusty earth, sun-dried tomato and ferrous aromas. Dry and mouth-watering with good acidity for tomato sauce. This is one of Piedmont's most respected wineries. Sour and tart cherry finish. Will cellar well for 7-9 years.

Light ruby red with a garnet hue. Cherry, dried fruit, herbs, cedar, and spice on the nose and palate. Refined and robust with great structure and balance, the serious tannins will continue to soften and evolve this fine wine's texture over the next decade. Enjoy with brasato al Barolo (beef braised in Barolo (or Barbaresco in this case)) or other elegant Piemontese dishes that complement this beautiful and prized style of wine. Vintages release February 6, 2016. Pick up 6-12 bottles and enjoy over the next decade. Tasted January 2016. 91+ points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca

This medium-bodied Italian red wine is a pale garnet colour with a robust and pleasant earthiness. Cherry, plum, black currant leaf, vanilla, truffle, wet cedar and dried herbs round out the aroma and flavour profile. The medium(+) acidity is refreshing and does a splendid job prepping the palate for food. Lingering earthy and mouthwatering finish. Tannins are youthful and will soften over time of which there is a lot of in this bottle. I suggest decanting 1-2 hours if you will be enjoying soon. Pair with game meats, ravioli in truffle sauce, braised lamb shank.

Alex: Fair aromatics of rose, clove, red licorice and liquered sour cherries. Bone dry on the palate, with resounding floral/licorice notes, a sinewy texture and ample tannic grip and acidic bite on the palate. Easily recognizable as barbaresco, but without the definition, raw flavor and aromatic concentration of pricier examples. A good drop in all, and worth its price. Open and leave corked for a day to show its best. 87 pts
