A stunning Italian red wine that's a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot (aka a Super Tuscan). Aromas of dark fruit, smoke and violets. Perfect for game dishes and hard cheeses.

Food pairings: venison burgers, rib roast, roast lamb shoulder.

Reviews and Ratings

Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

The Frescobaldi family is intimately linked to the history of Tuscany itself. With over 700 years of wine making in the region, the family still artfully crafts wines with the utmost respect for tradition and the land.
This fruit for this wine comes from the Vignoble Mormoreto Pelago in Tuscany. It is a delicious blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot but with a touch of Petit Verdot.
Evil dark deep ruby red in color with intense aromas of ripe blackberries & black cherries, cacao, dried mint, almond paste and something vegetal, kind of like root vegetable.
The palate is dense and spicy, almost a little sandy in texture… The taste buds are covered in deep dark chocolate and stewed berries. Great balance between acidity and tannins and a sumptuous long finish.
Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Sirah. There is a good percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon since 2012 was a great vintage. The vines were planted 150 years ago which adds depth to the wine, a sense of terroir, and great ability to age more than 30 years. Produced only in the best vintages. Rich and complex with blackberries, raspberries, cocoa, and chocolate notes with a hint of cloves and vanilla on the finish. Very smooth and enjoyable, hard not to love.
Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Alex: A blend of cab sauv, merlot, petit verdot and cab franc. This is quite broad-shouldered and opulent with super rich plummy fruit, a candied element to the fruit and a powerful tannic structure. Like a super punch where savoury Italian cabernet meets California fruit.

Priya: To paraphrase Alex, this is a rich, velvety, plush, ripe, fruity, jammy bomb in a glass. A great choice for New World red wine lovers.
