Reviews and Ratings

Ashley Quesnel rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Located in the northernmost part of the Beaujolais region, Moulin-à-Vent is one of ten Beaujolais crus and arguably the most famous. Sometimes referred to as the 'King of Beaujolais' due to their concentration, tannic structure and age-worthiness, these wines are often compared to the Pinot Noir produced by their neighbours to the north in Burgundy. Attractive aromas of cherry, raspberry and vanilla with a hint of earthiness in the background. Typical of the style, this wine is full-bodied and loaded with red fruit, mouthwatering acidity and an interesting vein of minerality that runs through to the finish. This wine is drinking beautifully now but would offer further reward from 3-5 years of cellar time. Serve slightly chilled. Pair with cheese and charcuterie, roasted duck breast or grilled salmon.
The 2012 vintage of the southern Burgundian red wine from the Beaujolais region, Moulin-a-Vent Les Burdeline, is made from Gamay grapes of which 20% were whole cluster fruit. The wine was aged 20% in oak barrels, 20% in stainless steel tanks and 60% in foudres (extra large oak barrels that don't impart much flavour). - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
