Natalie's Score: 88/100

From the Umbria wine region, a tart but juicy Sangiovese and Colorino red wine blend with ripe plum, dried herbs, sweet spice and tobacco leaf flavours on the palate. Tannins are grippy and there is great acidity for rich meaty dishes or to pair with Pecorino and Piave Stravecchio cheeses. The wine label depicts the harvest at the Fontana Maggiore of Perugia.

Sangiovese Colorino food pairings: rich tomato and roasted Italian vegetables sauce over penne, beef stuffed tomatoes and peppers.

Reviews and Ratings

Lungarotti Rubesco 2015 is a tart and juicy Sangiovese and Colorino red wine blend from the Umbria wine region. Tart cherry on the nose with ripe plum, dried herbs, sweet tobacco leaf, spicy and flinty flavours on the palate. Dry and full-bodied with grippy tannins and great acidity for food. Pair with a meaty, cheesy Manicotti dish. The label of this wine is a bas-relief depicting the harvest at the Fontana Maggiore of Perugia. - Community Wine Reviews
