Lovely dry-farmed Pinot with all the things in place -- breadth, length and depth. Yes, thank-you. Aromas of dark cherry and spice. Pair with grilled chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Simon Chen rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Tasted @ New Zealand Pure Discovery Walk-around Tasting in Ottawa - Out of the 3 pinots from this winery, this one is more Burgundy-style. Less red fruits, more early tone, and long lingering tannin on the tongue.
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

From New Zealand Pure Discovery Wine Fair: Medium ruby in colour, dry, mouthwatering acidity and balanced tannin with a medium body. Pronounced intensity nose featuring strong forest floor tang, thyme, cherry and strawberry with some spice. Tastes included soft cedar , thyme, spice and red fruit. Medium length finish of spicy cedar with red fruit.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is an enjoyable medium-bodied Pinot Noir with fresh tartness and smooth tannins. On the nose, ripe strawberry, cranberry, slight barnyard with hints of cedar, cocoa, and sweet spice.

On the palate, Montmorency cherry, cranberry, cedar, and a touch of red licorice. Lovely!

Tasted at the Pure Discovery New Zealand Wine event in Ottawa May 2019.
Brent Gushowaty rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The oldest of the Bluerock vineyard blocks here dates from 1986 and the vines are own rooted. The soils contain both clay and limestone soils clones. the clones involved are Abel, 667, and 777.

Scented with an enticing mix of pomegranate, cherry, clove and baking spices, along with a breezing acidity. On the palate again pomegranate as well as tangy cherry along with some graphite. Slightly plush, distinct with good weight and very savoury - Pommard like. There is a pause in the mid-palate that sets up the medium lingering finish. Excellent balance and poise throughout.

Tasted at the Pure Discovery New Zealand Wine event in Vancouver May 2019.

Paula Bernardino rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

I attended the Pure Discovery 2019 event featuring wines from New Zealand. At the Toronto event May 8, 2019 I focused on New Zealand’s reds, which included mainly Pinot Noir, Merlot and Syrah.

I tried the Blue Rock Vineyard Pinot Noir from Luna Estate. Dark ruby colour with earth/spice aromas. Velvety finish.
