Drink: 2018-2024

Bottle size: 750 ml

Alcohol: 14.5%

Sweetness: Extra Dry

Wine Type: Red Wine

Winery: Luce

Agent: Mark Anthony Wine & Spirits

Natalie's Score: 96/100

Luce 2015 is a muscular and structured Italian red wine blend from Sangiovese and Merlot wine grapes. Matured in 85% new and 15% one-time used French oak barriques for 24 months, this elegant red is produced in partnership with Vittoria Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, established in 1993. It is definitely a more new-world style of Super-Tuscan wine. Lots of blackberry, black plum, toast oak and vanilla flavours. Tannins are quite firm right now. Better from 2020 on.

Food pairings: bean-based dishes, lamb chops, grilled cheese sandwich, chateaubriand, cheddar cheeses.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
