From Hawke's Bay, North Island, Left Field's The Hatchling 2019 is a unique, dry, medium-plus-bodied and zesty red wine blend of 60% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Tempranillo. Fragrant and rich with plum, dark berry and spicy flavours fresh on the palate. Tannins are firm.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Kind of an unusual blend for New Zealand, consisting of 60% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Tempranillo. It all works well together with aromas of cherry, cedar, dried herbs and a touch of spice. Medium bodied with firm, drying tannins, bright acidity and a nice blend of ripe and tart berry hints. Slightly earthy with a note of evergreen forest. Enjoy with any grilled meats.
