Savoury with dried herbs on the nose and palate. Racy acidity for tangy meat sauces. Full-bodied with some tannic grip so decant 1-2 hours and pair with a rare steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot food pairings: grilled flat iron steak, grilled pork chops, meatlover`s pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A sensuous delight! A cool climate Cab Sauv - Merlot blend (90% Cab, 10% Merlot) from Western Australia. Highly aromatic with notes of cassis, wild strawberry, violet and lavender. Rich fruity palate ripples with satiny layers of flavours, giving herbal mint, anise, bay leaf, eucalyptus and mocha touches. Well-structured with elegant tart finish. Cellar up to 2025. A memorable Cab that would make a great gift wine. Excellent match with roast duck, lamb, prime rib.

Wineboy rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Dominant characteristic is the freshness of the acids.... nice in a Chianti.... unexpected in an Aussie Red even if it is from the cooler Western Australia.
Leeuwin Prelude Vineyards 2013 is a full-bodied, dry and structured Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot red wine blend from the Margaret River, Western Australia. More blackcurrant with dried herbs and firm tannins. Could easily cellar for about five years. Drink then and for the next 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews
