Natalie's Score: 93/100

A benchmark Italian red wine blend of 64% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot with power and finesse. Smoky, with dark fruit, ripe blackberry, anise and dark chocolate flavours lingering on the palate. Tannins are fine but still quite grippy. Decant two hours prior to pouring with a meaty lasagne or rich tomato and pasta dish. Good cellaring candidate for about three years.

Food pairings: lamb tangine, roast rack of lamb, beef long ribs on the barbie.

Reviews and Ratings

Le Serre Nuove Dell'ornellaia 2017 is a full-bodied red wine blend of Merlot, Cabernets Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Powerful and complex with layers of dark ripe blackberry, raspberry and dark chocolate, anise and smoke. Tannins are firm. Decant for two hours prior to pouring with a rich meaty stew. Enjoy now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
