A stunning, benchmark Niagara Pinot Noir from the master of the genre, Thomas Bachelder. Aromas of ripe cherry and freshly turned earth. Medium-bodied with a silken texture. Perfect to pair with itself or roast chicken.

Pinot Noir food pairings: pork roast, duck confit, braised beef prime ribs.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Planted with Dijon clones from Burgundy, in one of Niagara’s premiere, some say ‘Grand Cru’ quality vineyards, on the Jordan Bench, the grapes benefit from exceptional terroir for producing premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, as evidenced by earlier vintages and once again with the 2017 vintage of Le Grand Clos Pinot Noir. Light ruby with a garnet hue, it’s very expressive and perfumed with sweet and exotic spices, Tonka bean, menthol, chocolate, tobacco, graphite, and sous bois on the nose. My first impression of Le Grand Clos immediately takes me back to earlier vintages with familiarity, fondness, and appreciation for a wine I respected greatly years ago, and once again today, I’m impressed! The palate shows a medium bodied Pinot with fresh acidity, somewhat voluptuous on the mid palate for a 12.5% wine, with layers of spice, herbs, cherry, cacao, and refreshing minerality complementing the great aromatic complexity of this fine wine. As with earlier vintages, Le Grand Clos are well suited to enjoy youthful, and will evolve beautifully over a decade, perhaps longer. Tasted November 2019. 92+ points.
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A pale garnet Pinot Noir from Niagara, there are aromas of red berries-cranberry and strawberry. A medium balance of acidity and tannins, cherries appear on the palate too and the finish is medium and dry. This is a wine to be considered for turkey or roasted poultry, and a soft to medium cheese plate.
Olivier de Maisonneuve rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The nose is absolutely charmaing with its hints of red cherries and sweet spices. It's a fruity wine with a certain body but very refrehing at the same time. I would cellar it for a couple of years to add to its complexity. But rigth now it's super nice, like having a pearl on the tongue. It would pair well with duck confit or the famous Thanksgiving turkey.
