A juicy, satin-smooth, medium-bodied French red wine from the heart of Burgundy's Beaujolais region. Made from Gamay grapes. Attractive aromas of fleshy cherry and black raspberry with a lick of spice on the finish. Perfect for veal or turkey.

Food pairings: salty Asian dishes, barbecue, braised beef, charcuterie, mild cheese, grilled or roasted chicken, curries, grilled meats, pizza, Thanksgiving dinner.

Reviews and Ratings

Laurent Perrachon's wines are meant to age. They are excellent in their youth but after five, ten or more years they get better and better. The Perrachon family has been making wine in Beaujolais since 1601. They own 26 ha of vineyards in all the Crus. The 'Les Versauds' Morgon vineyard was planted in the 1920's, weeds are controlled through low level burning, only organic fertilizer is used sparingly and insecticides are forbidden. The wine is aged in old 3,000 litre oak barrels for up to 18 months before being bottled unfiltered around Easter.

This red fruit basket is hard to ignore. The fruit-weight, acidity and moderate alcohol balance of this wine is perfect - you taste the mineral tone and earth wrapped in a delicious, fresh cherry-laced concoction that is a cross-section of an old-vine with subtle earth and berries. It is long on the palate and retains a seamless quality despite the intense mineral expression. This is elegance aligned with power.
