Minty blackberry nose with plush plum flavours on the palate. Generous, full-bodied and lovely. Dark, concentrated and complex with the dark fruit intensity from the Shiraz and the lifted flavours and brightness through the mid-palate from a splash of Viognier. Classic Barossa in all its glory. Some eucalyptus and black pepperoni the finish. Try it with grilled or blackened chicken.

Shiraz Viognier food pairings: prime rib, braised lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I think the French got it right adding a splash of Viognier to Shiraz. The combination adds extra complexity and depth, giving this wine aromas of violet, earth, mint, and vanilla to the base black pepper and blackberry of the Shiraz. The taste is oaky blackberries and plums and the tannins are silky. There's a bit of candied cherry in the minty finish.
This full-bodied Australian red wine is a fantastic blend of 96% Shiraz and 4% Viognier. A well-pedigreed wine from a respected winemaking region. The Langmeil family has been making wine in the Barossa for six generations. - Community Wine Reviews
