Natalie's Score: 90/100

This Californian Zinfandel weighs in at 15.4% alcohol, but it's surprising that it actually doesn't taste that hot and heavy. Smooth and full-bodied with aromas of purple and black plums, blueberry and toast. Pair with grilled meats and barbecue.

Zinfandel food pairings: herb crusted chicken, roasted lamb, roast breast of veal.

Reviews and Ratings

Neil Phillips rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Smoky nose, with dark chocolate and red fruit compote.

Jammy on the palate, almost raisiny. A reductive style to be sure - but reasonably balanced and will appeal to many.

Would pair well with barbecue ribs.

Tasted October 2018.
Canadian winemaker, Tony Stewart, is the proprietor of Lake Sonoma Winery. This Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel is juicy and rich with plum compote, dark cherry, chocolate and smoky cinnamon flavours on the palate. Tannins are fine and the 2014 is beautifully balanced. Pair with a barbequed brisket. - Community Wine Reviews
