Complex, full-bodied yet nuanced and long on the finish. This vibrant Italian red wine features gorgeous aromas of dried black cherry, cedar, smoke, fleshy blackberries from an iconic producer. It's a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, and it was aged for 1 year in French barriques. Decant for 1 hour. Pair this wine with prime rib.

Food pairings: pepper steak, roast beef, sausage cassoulet.

Reviews and Ratings

Fraser Young rated this wine as 92/100
Simon Chen rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

2nd label wine from Luce (a collaboration between Robert Mondavi and Vittorio Frescobaldi). This wine is a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Sangiovese, whereas the first label 'Luce' is always a blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Sangiovese every year.

2015 is a great vintage in Tuscany, and it shows beautifully in this wine. It's rich, coffee, cocoa, toasted spices, and hint of vanilla. The wine is well structured and layered that you get a warm and silky texture on the initial palate. The finish is chewy but not too tannic.

I can't wait to try the 2015 Luce when it'll be released next year! But in the meantime, drink a lot of the 2015 Lucente!
From the Tuscany wine region La Vite Lucente (2015) is a full-bodied red wine and second wine to Frescobaldi’s flagship label Luce, with grapes sourced from the same vineyards. The deep ruby red is a red wine blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Luce della vite is a famous cellar known for its Montalcino Wines. - Community Wine Reviews
