Complex, full-bodied yet subtle Italian red wine. Gorgeous aromas of dried black cherry, cedar, smoke, fleshy blackberries from an iconic producer. This full-bodied red wine is the second wine to Frescobaldi’s flagship label Luce. It's a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, and it was aged for 1 year in French barriques. This is the magnum size of this wine, equivalent to two regular (750 ml) bottles. Decant for 1 hour and you're ready to go! The grapes are sourced from the same vineyards as Luce aged in oak barriques in the winery at Montalcino. Pair this wine with prime rib.

Food pairings: pepper steak, pork schnitzel, lamb liver and onions.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Dark ruby/garnet with fragrant aromas and flavours of jammy ripe raspberry, plums, vanilla and cedar. Full-bodied, layered but elegantly understated. Wonderful with prime rib.

Simon Chen rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Second label from Luce, I like this vintage a lot more than the past ones (11, 12, 13). Toasty, oaky, and touch vanilla on the nose. Medium/lean body upon opening but let it decant for 1 hr and it becomes medium/full body with chewy texture. The finish is also medium. Good wine and looking forward to trying Luce 2014.
This full-bodied red is the second wine to Frescobaldi’s flagship label Luce. The wine is layered and rich wine with a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Decant the magnum-size bottle of wine for one hour and pair with friends and a rare prime rib. - Community Wine Reviews
