Winemakers Paula and Pablo Pizzella grow the grapes in Altamira, Mendoza. This dark, meaty and full-bodied Argentine wine sources its Malbec grapes from local growers, the Pizzella Family Vineyard (Ed Lehrman and Nick Ramkowsky). Lots of chocolate, espresso, coffee and mocha from oak aging. This La Posta is more robust than the winery's Angel Paulucci red wine. Pair with Mexican mole.

Malbec food pairings: lamb cutlets, beef tenderloin, prime rib.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This elegant Mendoza Malbec shows smooth plum, dark chocolate and espresso notes in a soft, balanced mouthfeel. Great value. Pair with beef bourguinon and hearty lamb stews.
Tasted Nov. 2017
Produced by Laura Catena, La Posta Pizzella (2016) is a great value, medium-plus bodied Argentinean Malbec from the Mendoza wine region. Wine grapes for this wine are sourced from the local Pizzella Family Vineyard (Ed Lehrman and Nick Ramkowsky). Lots of ripe dark fruit, chocolate, espresso, coffee and mocha from oak aging. Tannins are fine grained and this luscious red is smooth and ready to drink now. - Community Wine Reviews
