Natalie's Score: 91/100

A full-bodied Barolo made from 100% Nebbiolo wine grapes. There is a lot of smoky, charry dark fruit, tar, rose petals, leather and spice flavours on the palate matched by mouth-watering acidity and grippy, firm tannins. Would definitely benefit from five more years in cellar as Barolo has a tendency to need to do. But this is a very affordable Barolo and well-worth the ageing. Pair with prime rib in the future.

Barolo food pairings: beef stew, roast pheasant, prime rib.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Fantastic and very accessible Barolo that's ready for enjoyment now, there's no need to wait two decades to enjoy this one! Immediately upon opening you're greeted by its complex bouquet of dark fruits, spicy and rustic notes - plum, sweet spices, floral, tobacco, tar, leather, and a hint of balsam. This value-priced Barolo is well balanced with fresh dark fruit, ample rounded tannis, and a refreshing finish making it a great wine to enjoy with roast beef, firm cheeses, and one of my favourites - wild mushrooms and truffle tagliatelle. Tasted December 2019. 92 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
La Pieve 2015 Barolo is great value under $40. Good now but better 2022. Loads of potential with its dark fruit, dark cherry, tar, leather and spicy flavours on the palate. Tannins are grippy on this 100% Nebbiolo. - Community Wine Reviews
