Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

Howell Mountain Cabernets are some of the most concentrated wines in the world. La Jota is no exception. Dark chocolate, mocha, black currant, fig, baking spice, pepper, and mint on the nose and palate. A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, with the balance made up of Petit Verdot and Merlot, all aged in mostly new French oak, this bold and superbly balanced Howell Mountain (Napa Valley) Cab is showing beautifully now and will only continue to gain complexity over the next two decades. Enjoy 2016-2036. Being released February 6, 2016 via Vintages in Ontario, Canada. Tasted January 2016. 95 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
This Howell Mountain Estate Cabernet was established in 1908 and the vines are planted at 1,700 to 1,820 feet above sea level. Mocha and dark chocolate with big black plums. Full-bodied and supple. Try it with pepper steak. Firm tannins with a solid grip on the palate. Cellar this wine for several years at least then decant 2 hours. The 2012 vintage of this Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Petit Verdot and Merlot grapes. The wine was matured in 90% new French oak barrels. There were 3850 cases produced of this La Jota wine for this vintage, which is larger than usual. - Community Wine Reviews
