Natalie's Score: 89/100

A full-bodied, juicy and delicious Australian red wine named for Mimi, a character in Puccini's La Bohème. The Yarra-Valley native operatic soprano Dame Nellie Melba, often performed the role in late 19th century. This Syrah is beautifully styled with aromas of fleshy ripe black fruit and spice. It's vegan-friendly. Pair with grilled portabello mushrooms and your favourite opera.

Syrah Gamay food pairings: grilled prime rib steak, slow-braised lamb shanks, meatlover's pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Produced by De Bortoli, La Bohème Act Four 2017 is a different red wine blend of Syrah and Gamay grapes sourced from the Yarra Valley. Lots of fresh acidity, cherry, earthy florals and savoury spice flavours on this wine. The role of Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème was a favourite of Yarra-Valley-born Dame Nellie Melba, one of the most popular operatic sopranos of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. De Bortoli celebrates her legacy with their La Bohème. This wine is suitable for vegans. - Community Wine Reviews
