Reviews and Ratings

Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Earthy aromas of raisin, eucalyptus, and forest floor, with balanced acidity and tannins, and a persistent tart finish. Pair with roast beef or tomato sauce pasta.
Tasted March 2017.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Ripe cherry with damp earth and herbaceous notes and a smokey finish, medium to full-bodied - found this to be quite a pleasant wine! It would be fun to pair this with ethnic or regional cuisine or barbecue fare.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review:

An interesting wine that is heavier on the palate than it visually appears. Cranberry and cherry aromas. Medium acidity and medium tannins with a sour cherry finish. Tasted March 13, 2017.
Oldest Georgian brand in Canada
Mukuzani is crafted in Mukuzani Micro-Zone, Gurdjaani area, Kakheti region, Georgia (Black Sea region) from indigenous Saperavi grapes.
Mukuzani wine is arguably the best (“the Prince of Georgian wines”), most recognised and easiest to understand dry red wine from Georgia.

Dark pomegranate with garnet shades in the glass with well expressed layered bouquet where aromas of cherry and black currants match harmoniously Caucasian oak vanilla. The taste begins dry but fruit and oak flavours quickly come through and only reluctantly fade away.

Terroir:
Mukuzani Micro-Zone (Controlled Place of Origin), located in the heart of Kakheti, on the right bank of River Alazani in Gurjaani district. Elevation 400-700m. Moderately humid hot summers and cold winters. Carbonate soils.
Vinification:
Best hand selected and hand-picked grapes of the vintage fermented at controlled temperatures with select yeast strains and then malolactic fermented. The wine is aged for minimum 1 year in Caucasian oak in underground cellars.
Variety: Saperavi 100%.
Serving suggestion:
Serve at 19°C.
