Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Kim Crawford wines are loved around the world for their approachable, refreshing, and delicious style. Their Small Parcels offerings, such as their micro-cuvée "Fizz", showcase the finest grapes from specific vineyards and these wines represent some of the best in New Zealand.

Fizz 2012 is a blend of 55% Chardonnay, and 45% Pinot Noir from small parcel vineyards in New Zealand's Marlborough wine region. The Chardonnay was sourced from the Lindsay Vineyard in Marlborough's Wairau Valley, and the Pinot from the Rarangi Vineyard in Marlborough's Northern Valleys. The grapes were hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel, with secondary fermentation in the bottle (just like Champagne), with a 42 month aging on the lees which contributes to the wines aromatic and textural complexity.

The nose shows yellow apple, lemon scone, floral blossom, and summer garden. It's fresh and lively with a creamy and zesty mousse, making this a fantastic choice for enjoying with a wide range of dishes from oysters on the half shell, creamy pasta, or one pan skillet garlic parmesan chicken and asparagus. This micro-cuvée traditional method bubbly offers great value in a very approachable style which is sure to be loved. Tasted May 2018. 92 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Lise Charest Gagne rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A lively Fizz from Marlborough’s cool Awatere Valley- think big mousse and bubbles crafted in the traditional method. It’s a mix of Chardonnay from the Castle Cliffs Vineyard and Pinot Noir from the Brooklands and Hay Vineyards. Aromas of smooth lemon / lime and toasted brioche. Flavors of creamy grilled lemons refresh the palate. Its mouth-watering and creamy with lively bubbles – what else could you want? I would pair this with some deep fried pickerel topped with lemon slices and hand crafted dill tartar sauce.
This sparkler is a traditional method bubbly; a terrific, full-bodied toasty sparkling wine Fizz from New Zealand with wine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wine grapes sourced from small-parcel lots. Lovely green apple notes and smoke. - Community Wine Reviews
