Reviews and Ratings

Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

In 1996, Kim Crawford and his wife Erica fell in love with the idea of starting a winery. In the beginning, they ran the company from a spare room of their home in Central Auckland, New Zealand and without owning grapevines or tanks, Kim and Erica produced their first 4,000 cases, thereby established Kim Crawford Wines. Only two years after launch, Kim Crawford Wines began exporting to the United States. Within four years, the company moved into a state-of-the-art winery in Marlborough and began looking at vineyards to purchase and cultivate. Just six years after these humble beginnings, Kim Crawford Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc made the 2003 Wine Spectator's Top 100 List to roaring acclaim!
One of the first wineries in New Zealand to utilize the screw cap and producing fruit-driven Chardonnays at the time of the oaky Chardonnay craze, it is safe to say that Kim Crawford is a pioneer who isn’t afraid to go against the grain… And thank goodness he did!
This 2013 Pinot Gris SMALL PARCELS, “FAVOURITE HOMESTEAD” is stunning!
It is a deep straw colour.
On the nose, it vibrates with aromas of peaches, ripe pear, floral blossoms and a touch a freshly cut hay.
On the palate, it is unctuous, mineraly and spicy with more luscious ripe pear flavours. Great weight to this wine, lovely acidity and a gorgeous, long finish.
If you enjoy Alsatian Pinot Gris, this one might seduce you into forgetting all about Alsace!!!
Paula Bernardino rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

I had the chance to attend an educational seminar on blending Kim Crawford’s Sauvignon Blancs in Montreal where the special guest was Kim Crawford’s senior winemaker Anthony Walkenhorst. We ended the evening with the 2013 Kim Crawford Small Parcels Favourite Homestead Pinot Gris and a mini pear tart with pieces of old cheddar. Floral aromas and citrus flavours.
Tasted in Montreal on September 23, 2015
New Zealand's wine region of the Awatere Valley is located south of the Wairau Valley. It extends from the sea and inland to the cool, dry, windswept valley which helps to maintain freshness in the wines. - Community Wine Reviews
