Definitely an acquired taste, but if you like Retsina, you will enjoy this traditional Greek full-bodied, dry white wine with pine, cedar and briny mineral flavours finishing long on the palate. A lighter than expected pine resin aroma on this light-bodied Greek white wine. Pair with grilled sardines, calamari and fresh seafood.

Retsina food pairings: grilled calamari, grilled octopus, grilled seafood, seafood dishes, herbed breads, fried Saganaki cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Kechris Kechribari Restsina 2023

This was a pleasant surprise! In the past, winemakers added up to 8% pine resin during fermentation; however, now restrictions allow for only about 1%. The result is a well-balanced white wine with a much more delicate pine aspect. Crafted from the Roditis grape varietal, it is fragrant, with aromas of pear, green apple and melon. The palate gives notes of lime and slight pine resin. This wine pairs well with garlicy grilled vegetables or feta cheese sprinkled with olive oil and oregano.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Retsina is a white wine enhanced with pine resin. More subtle than I remember, this wine has a light pine essence both on the nose and the palate, along with hints of pear, green peas, and creamy lemon. I would pair this with any spring green vegetable dishes.
This is a 500ml format of Kechri Kechribari Retsina with a PGI wine designation meaning" Protected Geographical Indication". The introduction of the PGI Wines of Greece designation shows authenticity and typicality of the wine to the region. This Retsina shows very pronounced pine aromas, fresh herbs, earthy notes and zesty acidity on the palate. You either love it or hate it. Pair with Dolmades. - Community Wine Reviews
