Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Floral, minty and herbal notes accented the red fruit layers in this syrah’s bouquet. Medium bodied, the palate displayed a red fruit core framed with soft tannins and well-integrated oak influences.

Crafted from hand harvested grapes grown in Ontario’s Four Mile Creek appellation, this syrah’s wine making pedigree includes 24 month maturation in small French and American oak barrels. Enjoy.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromas of red cherry and raspberry, along with hints of mint, black pepper, violets and leather. Full bodied, with soft tannins, and bright acidity, highlighting vibrant red fruit on the palate. Herb and spice notes are subtle and the finish is soft and a little lighter than I anticipated with the flavourful nose on this wine. I would enjoy this with a peppery steak or grilled portobello mushrooms.
Winemaker's Note - his premium wine was vinified from grapes grown on the Joseph vineyard. The fruit was hand harvested and fermented separately on the skins for 15 to 25 days. After 24 months of aging in small French and American oak barrels, the best-tasting barrels were bottled as our limited release, Joseph Estate Vineyard Grand Reserve Syrah. Aromas of blueberry, raspberry and blackberry are balanced by vanilla and a slight touch of savory characters of fresh tobacco and dark chocolate.
