Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Appealing to the eye, this merlot was ruby red laced with fetching purple shades. The experience continued with attractive aromas of dark and red berries, coco and cedar that followed through to a medium bodied palate framed with soft tannins. For the finish, the fruit flavours commanded centre stage.

Crafted from hand harvested grapes grown in Ontario’s Four Mile Creek appellation, this merlot’s wine making pedigree includes 22 days of skin contact fermentation and 24 month maturation in small French oak barrels. Enjoy.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Dark and mysterious in the glass with aromas of red currant, cherry and plum, along with hints of mocha, violets, cedar and spice. Full bodied, smooth on the palate with soft tannins, and medium+ acidity, along with tart, ripe fruit with a soft finish balanced with more cedar and spice notes. Enjoy with hearty mushroom dishes.
Winemaker's Note: This premium wine was vinified from grapes grown on the Joseph vineyard. The fruit was hand harvested and fermenting on the skins for 22 days. After 24 months of aging in small French oak barrels, the best-tasting barrels were bottled as our limited release, Joseph Estate Vineyard Grand Reserve Merlot. Concentrated aromas of dark and red berries join with aromatic notes of fresh tobacco, and currant vanilla. Full-bodied, rich flavor with excellent balance and round tannins give way to a long pleasant finish.
